This is obviously a collector set of Franciscan nuns since they have not yet been take out of their packaging decreasing their retail value. You can tell though that these are faithful nuns because progressive ones would obviously be wrappedn in tinfoil.

That would be RECYCLED tinfoil, right?

Wrapped in tin-foil because they are half-baked, right?

Excellent. Nuns in their stay-fresh wrapping. A wholly modern view of how the habit of a habit maintains an order in order. Hee hee. Anything funny connected with the Franciscans always reminds me of that hilarious line from Chesterton:

The mediaeval spirit loved its part in life as a part, not a whole; its charter for it came from something else. There is a joke about a Benedictine monk who used the common grace of Benedictus benedicat, whereupon the unlettered Franciscan triumphantly retorted Franciscus Franciscat. It is something of a parable of mediaeval history; for if there were a verb Franciscare it would be an approximate description of what St. Francis afterwards did. [GKC A Short History of England]

(Incidentally, "Frances" was his wife's name; "Francis" was his confirmation name.)

Whose wife?

GK Chesterton's wife

It seals in that new nun smell.

Anticipating all possibilities and ready for Nun!

How much do they cost? I would like to order some for my parish please!

What no Blue Nun? You can at least drink those. I always thought bottles of Blue Nun should be packaged like the liqieur(sp?) Fra Angelico. Then you could collect them and use them as candle holders or whatever. Gives a nice touch to the home shrine to pray at. How about toy nuns, monks, and priests like toy soldiers? I'd buy 'em.

Hi Jeff ... Love your humor. Wanted to let you know you've got a mention on our site ... on today's blog post with the greeting cards.

Whooooops! Try this link.

You can tell which nuns are the older ones because their plastic cover is yellowed.

Hurrah for nuns!!

Karen

These nuns are prepared for Fr. Monaghan's over-enthusiastic use of Holy water....

I agree Progressive nuns should be wrapped in tinfoil. But be sure it's not mutated tinfoil that will make them more stronger. :-D

Is that a Chittester/McBrien protective shield?

Never. Read. Site. With. Diet. Doctor. Pepper. In. Mouth! My poor nose...and keyboard....*gets out the cleaners.*

I love reading your blog in general, I must say. ^_^

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.
