Armored Popemobile

The Vatican is so anxious about the Pope's safety during his trip to Turkey this week that it has vetoed use of the traditional "Popemobile".

Instead, Pope Benedict XVI will travel in an armour-plated car, with several similar vehicles used as decoys, Joaquin Navarro-Valls, the former papal spokesman, said.

Officials have also drawn up contingency plans for him to wear a bulletproof vest beneath his papal vestments as Turkish authorities mount a huge security operation including rooftop snipers, special forces, helicopters and navy speedboats.

Bulletproof vest? Shouldn't that be bulletproof vestments?

Pray for our Holy Father - Papa is walking(flying) into a dangerous situation.

I have been praying daily for his safe return from Turkey.

I don't envy the Swiss Guard on this road trip.

Jeff:

I am writing to you because I know you are good at designing graphics to display on the Internet. Your blog always has some new humourous graphic whenever I check it out. I am hoping you will be able to design a graphic for me. I need one that says "Proudly entered the Catholic Church in 2007". I want it to be about the same color and the same size as the one Owen designed for me for 2006 ( http://acatholiclife.blogspot.com/2006/04/please-pray-for-these-new-catholics.html). I just would like a new image in the design. I was looking for something to capture the joy of entering the Church, preferably an image of something with the Eucharist or the Mass.

Please let me know if you would be able to create such a graphic.

Pray for the Holy Father as he goes into such a volatile situation.

I'm glad he's going to witness to the Turkish people. Maybe we'll see some conversions.

What a lack of faith. Seriously, I thought he believed in Jesus. Anyway, that fact he is unfamilar with Psalm 139 is further proof that the Pope has not read the Bible http://www.godisimaginary.com/video5.htm

For those wondering when was the last time Psalm 139 was read during Mass:

Since this link won't last forever -- Oct. 6, 2006.

C'mon Hoodlum.. You really need to state your premises, since you are making most of them up. The pope worships the same Jesus who evaded hostile mobs intending to kill or injure him on several occasions. Your theological straw men are getting more pathetic.

You know, your pedantic assertions make you sound like a burger-peddling undergrad whose pathetic home life has given him a classic antipathy toward the "father figure" intrinsic to Oedipal complexes. Oops, nevermind..

Well, here's to transparency. I would pity you instead of laughing if I weren't so cynical.

Hoodlum,

of course he hasn't: he could not find it because you moved it to the fiction shelves :)

May I suggest that you send him an email explaining the correct interpretation of Psalm 139? I am sure he will be thankful for it.

Yeah Jay, it's one of those contradictions that make a majority of the world's population view it as make believe. Plus had you watched Passions of the Christ, you'd know that Jesus accepted God's will. :)

Besides, it takes real ego to thank that one's prayers can influence the decisions made by an all powerful invisible man. Will he kill the pope is Muslims pray for his death?

Jay, while I am loath to indulge in name calling, I'll do it for you.

You're a crazed alliterate fool, who becomes flustered whenever his insipid apologetics fail to stop the mocking of his schizoesque delusion.

P.S. Jay, when your compatriots attack me for using the word alliterate, please correct them for me.

"You're a crazed alliterate fool"

Using a plethora of poor points would make him an alliterate fool. Way to shoot yourself in the foot.

Hoodlum,

I'll be praying for you. You seem to have a lot of anger in you. You also seem to use a lot of foul language in your blog. I also noticed that no one posts any comments in your site...kind of sad. I'm sure these words don't mean much, but I'm asking others who read this to pray for you. God Bless =)

Yeah, I do swear a lot. Most people attribute it to my military days, but I've never really gotten the whole tisk tisk factor of it. As for the lack of comments, a lot of people appear to try and post, but screw up the whole captach ( I think that's how it's spelled), because I get a lot of emails, and several of my posts have been emailed around the world by Johns Hopkins Alumni, people at NIH, and DOJ. Plus I've had my blog sorta of featured on a local radio show. So, I am not without an audience.

Hoodlum,

you certainly do have an audience. So does Madonna. She may have the better voice (maybe), but you certainly produce more fun.

Thanks for the posts, but try to do something positive with your life as well. We'll all pray for you (even if you don't seem to understand what that means)

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke
