Of mice and thin-skinned men

All of this phony furor by Muslims over the Pope's remarks reminds me of something. What it reminds me of is lab mice and cancer experiments. It always seemed to me that you could get these mice to develop cancer by basically giving them anything. If you said boo to them carcinogens would develop in them. The outcry of some Muslims over just about anything makes them just so thin-skinned that there skin thickness has to be measured with a micrometer. Just about anything will set them of. From cartoons to phony stories about the Koran and Guantanamo just about any implied insult will invoke anger and a violent reply. They have of course only reacted to a very small part of the Pope's speech which is not surprising since this is the only part the media is magnifying.

'Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached'."

Coming only weeks after the forced conversion of the two Fox News personnel show that not much has changed since the 14th century when Emperor Manuel Paleologos II said those words. Progress in this case was that instead of a sword they used a gun instead, though they will still fall back on tradition and use a dull sword to lop off a head or two for old times sake.

Pakistan's parliament condemned the "derogatory" remarks today and demanded an apology. The country's foreign ministry said they were "regrettable" and claimed they would encourage violence.

Yeah that will show the Pope that he is wrong. Stop saying we are violent or we will beat you up or kill you.

But Britain's Ramadhan Foundation, a youth organisation based in Rochdale, reacted angrily to the comments, comparing the Pope unfavourably to his predecessor John Paul II.

In a statement it said: "If the Pope wanted to attack Islam and Prophet Muhammad teachings he could have been brave enough to say it personally without quoting a 14th century Byzantine Christian emperor.

Why would he have to be brave to say it? They have to get use to the idea that any other religion besides Islam are going to disagree with the majority of the teachings of Muhammad and especially his authority. I mean where did they get the idea that the Pope wasn't an Muslim and that Catholics do not accept the authority of their prophet? That we see Islam as just the most enduring of heresies that was cobbled together from Christianity and other religious beliefs. British Muslims can practice their faith and complain about the Popes' remarks specifically because of developed Christian thought in the first place on religious freedom. Saudi Arabian Christians can't say squat since the public worship of any other religion is prohibited.

In the meantime the University of Minnesota is doing a play called the "Pope and the Witch" which has a heroin-addicted and paranoid Pope John Paul II in it. Now I don't worry about this play since I know some Catholic will either behead the people involved or blow themselves up in the audience. So why waste time critiquing this play. I know this to be true since Rosie O'Donnell recently said “Christian Fundamentalists are just as dangerous as Islamic Fundamentalists.” If the play was about Muhammad it would certainly incite violence either here or overseas. Maybe a riot will break out at anytime in St. Peter's Square. I am sure I saw someone outside of adoration recently with a sign that said "Behead those who insult Catholicism."

Today a Cardinal at the Vatican spoke out about Pope Benedict's comments: In the passage of the speech that has roused so much anger, the Pope was quoting a 14th-century Byzantine emperor, and the Pontiff "did not intend "to make... Read More

"That we see Islam as just the most endearing of heresies...."

Oh, you little Mussulmen, you're just so cute!...

I think you mean "enduring," yes?

Jesus said, say ues when you mean yes, and no when you mean no.
If we had more yes, and no's said within the Catholic Church poewrs that be, instead of nuanceing everything, maybe, just maybe, we'd have more pews filled, and more vocations to the priesthood!!
so i say, good for the Pope, and don't apologize!

A certain retired Professor Wichman wrote of the Danish cartoon protests some time ago. His words remain as apropriate and succint today:

I am offended... by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey!), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called "whores" in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris France.

[...]

I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems to be very aware of this as you proceeded with your infantile "protests".

They prove his point. He says 'you're violent'. They make violent protests. Duhh.

It's like the class smart alec saying to the class bully, "you're an ignorant, boorish oaf." and the bully says, "That's a lie. Say it again and I'll slug you..'

Wouldn't it be refreshing to hear a Pope say he made an imprudent statement! Would the world come to an end? I would guess that his future speeches are going to be read by others before going real time.

We had a vote and instead of beheading people or blowing them up during "The Pope and the Witch" we're just going to stand up and say all 20 decades of the Rosary during it. Probably Divine Mercy chaplets during the intermissions.

For bombs and blowing up, how about every good Catholic go and see this junk, but first eat LOTS of beans and burritos, all of them laden with garlic. Buttonhole the actors (after having another clove or three) and talk to them. Get in their face. Talk a loooooooooong time.
Heroin-addicted...John Paul the Greatly Blessed took a lot of medicine, but this is just sad.

I just happened to be reading Pascal's Pensees and he doesn't have anything nice to say about Mahomet (his spelling) either. If it wasn't for our medievael attitudes, Europe would not have fought the crusades and we would all be speaking Arabic, praying to Mecca four times a day and our women would be wearing burkas. I am angry that the Vatican decided to "apologize" for speaking the truth.

It shows the cowardice of Islam in the face of reason. In the same speech the pope calls the faithful to actively seek answers to questions regarding the form of Catholicism.

Mohammed was a patsy of worldliness whose theology enabled him to keep a harem and Sultans to rule with absolute power as quasi-totalitarian tyrants.

Catholicism gave us science, universities, hospitals and universal human rights. What is Islam's inheritance? Mass murder, suicide, dehumanization, unjust government -- all the signs and forms of hopelessness.

Mohammed was a prophet of hopelessness -- only slightly more popular than Joseph Smith and slightly less charismatic than Martin Luther.

Islam is so pathetic and weak an entire nation of Muslims will fear a single family of Christians to the point where they must force the Christians to hide their faith. They are such utter cowards they have to machine gun a room full girls praying the rosary rather than letting them pray in solitude.

Muslims fear the Son more than vampires fear the sun. They hate reason more than vampires hate that Sign of Contradiction.

I know evangelical little girls who are more courageous in defending their faith than your average Islamic suicide bomber.

This has much to do with the actions of the past pope JPII and the V2 council and the continued falacy of this and other past popes that we all "Worship the same God" and that Moslems should be held in "High Esteem"

This point is clear from Scripture "Whosoever does not continue in the doctrine of Christ does not have God". - II St. Jn 1:9

Moslems deny the Blessed Trinity the Incarnation , the Crucifixion of our Divine Lord and the Divinity of Christ

The Catholic and Christian God is 'The Trinity,' and our Lord Jesus Christ, the second Person of that Trinity, is the Creator and One true and merciful God. Despite monotheistic appearances, we do not have the same God; we do not have the same mediator. How then can it be that " together with us they (The Moslems) adore the one, merciful God."

This is incredible! The Catholic Teaching: "Without faith it is impossible to please God." - Heb. 11:6

The non Catholic faiths are divided into monotheists (Jews and Moslems), polytheists (Hindus, Buddhists, etc.), and atheists.

From a Catholic perspective the Islamic worship is another form of false worship given to a "strange god" for as we read in scripture "All the gods of the Nations are Idols" - I Para 16:26

Ecumenism was not denounced by every Pope until the second Vatican council for no reason, but like other church teachings, the council defected from past teachings and is now paying the price in confusion of the laity, confused teachings, conflicting canon law (that grants over 60k annulments a year including my sister in law who just met with a well know Catholic priest who is on TV who is working for her to get an annulment) and catechism

I pray for B16 as he is an intelligent man and knows the dangers that face the church, and anyone can achieve "peace" if they give into everything including sacrificing your faith as JPII did, and B16 would not. God bless our Pope

Either Islam is a false religion (satanic?) or the Judeo/Christian religions are false religions. God manifested Himself to the Hebrews through Abraham, Moses et al. God then sent his Son, Jesus to reform the religion of Moses and to redeem mankind. God is not a fool and would not have inspired a third monotheistic religion if the first two were valid. I belive that God does not do useless acts and that the religion of Mohammed is the false religion. See the latest issue of First Things and the discussion of Islam by the Archbishop of Sydney.
