The religious right made me do it
As promised President Bush thankfully has used his first veto on the bill promoting ESCR.
The above is the Photo the AP ran with the story. This photo was taken yesterday with Cardinal McCarrick, Papal Nuncio Pietro Sambi, and the new Archbishop of Washington Donald W. Wuerl. Even though they were not at the White House today the implication is of course that the veto is just a pure political move satisfy the religious right and that the whole issue is just the old faith against science redux. Some ill informed (nothing new there) senators even brought up the Galileo case to make thier point.
Known as 
Senator Schumer and the licentious Left in Congress are anathema if they voted for stem cell research.
Hmmm. They're still trying to use Galileo, huh? And they say that we're stuck in the past? Don't make me laugh. For my part, I say if the impact of those good folk helped President Bush make this decision, good for them and good for him!
I know that Jesus ate with the tax collectors and prostitutes, but I don't read anywhere where it says he ate with the journalists.
Go George! There's a time for compromise and a time to stand up for something.
Have you ever noticed how Bush could care less about how the media portrays him? He's either completely psycho or he's dead certain that what he's doing is right.
I, for one, subscribe to the latter and not the former explanation.

I do wish people who choose to complain were more educated. Then maybe we could have a *real* discussion. But no -- faith is antithetical to science and reason, truth is whatever you want to believe (today), and philosophy is for the birds. GRRRR! Give me people who KNOW from whence they speak, and at least we could use discussion as a tool towards learning truth. Er, well, at least we could be on the same ground whilst coming from different sides, instead of having arrows fly up from puddles in the ground.
Now if only Bush had the cajones to stand up to the left on issues like: illegal immigration, size of government, gay marriage, government spending, and so on...
Bless him for standing up on these issues...thank God it wasn't up to Kerry...but dang it, Bush needs to move a little to the right IMHO.
We should all be writing comments to CNA because their take on the Alternative Pluripotent Bill was so one-sided in favor of it - quoting all of the Catholic sources that supported it and didn't mention any of the implications of it.
Bush vetoing this Bill will end up being a small victory if the other Alternative Bill gets through.
Now if only Bush had the cajones [sic]

I do not know where the common Web log use of the intended Spanish word originated -- an Arnold movie? -- but if the etymology of this word were better known to English speakers most of them would blush as they would never say anything like it in English. I can count on one hand the times someone has dared use it in a Spanish context in my hearing, and those were classmates at a boys' school. Trust me; it is not simply what you are thinking.

Adult stem cells have already been used to cure spinal cord injuries,and heart disease, among others. Without causing the tumors to grow in their recipients like embryonic stems cells. Without destroying human life.
The Catholic religion supports science because our God is the creator of all that is, and leads us to all truth.
