that narrator voice is awesome.

"Stop killing Judas"

Good one, Jeff!

I love it!!

LMAO!! That vid is one of the funniest things I've seen on the internet in a while. I loved it!

I like when the terminator says "Pontius Pilate at ten o'clock" to distract them so he can shoot Judas again.

I remember watching this on tv when it first came out back in my "heathen liberal protestant" days. It's so much funnier now to watch it as an educated Catholic! LOL

The final comment, "Don't worry, He'll be back" was good.

The "Terminator purist" in me wonders where the Terminator got the shotgun in 1st century Palestine, but still a really funny video.

Sooooo sacreligious. We really are sick Catholics aren't we.

This was hilarious! Thanks, Jeff.

Woe, these pastors.
A priest, a religius priest was watching an immoral show, and then finds it funny to mock Jesus. Educated Catholic. No relative catholic.
Please I would laugh it was funny and NOT A SIN.
But whatever. You probably won't listen till you start seeing the shadows. I won't say much more.
Look at the picture of Blessed Micheal Pro. You call him a jestor. He doesn't seem like a jester.
He seems like one who followed Our Lord and took up his cross and died on it.
It's not a sin to laugh, but it could be if its a lack of seriousness. Laughing is good for the right reasons. This isn't one.

Great. Now I have guilt!

Ah, well. Off to Confession. Thanks be to God.

Not funny! I consider myself having a good sense of humor, but this is NOT FUNNY!!!

I hate to sound like the grouchy old church lady in the back pew but this is :

1. Stunningly blasphemous
2. Not funny.

Oh, man, was it wrong that I laughed out loud at this? I hope not. :-(

Not fair, I just had my gaul bladder removed yesterday. Laughing hurts!

I'm sorry, but why is this blasphemous?? ("Not funny" is quite another thing.)

I also like the 'He'll be back', by the way...

While this was hilarious...not appropriate I'm afraid.

Sorry,
Gall bladder, these pain killers are the kind of thing where you not only get a subscription to National Catholic Reporter, you think it was a good idea.

I don't really see the blasphemy either, although I can't rule out a failure of conscience.

In fact—and this is probably a symptom of spending too long in grad school, but here goes anyway—I rather liked the complete opposition between the Terminator's blow-em-away definition of power and the Lord's very different one. Not to mention that apparently Jesus did get through in the end—the Terminator is, after all, standing in the crowd at the end, not shooting anybody :-). (OK, I'll stop now with the analysis of something that really shouldn't be analyzed :-).)

Peace,
--Peter

In grad school right now and got to agree with you Peter. How is it blasphemous? There is contrast. And the Terminator professes a belief in the Resurrection at the end. Come on!

by a robot?
The worst part is the way they protraited Our Lord.
If you can imagine Our Lord like some fussy joker, than you seriously have to evaluate your spiritual life. He is God. The One who created us out of nothing. The One who if you go 50 billion years back, was there, and if you go back 99 times as much, He was there. The One who was so beutiful, perfect, not a child like Him. The same one who went to the Cross, and embraced it, being God, saw every sin commited, is going to be, and being able to destroy everything, being God it is His right to, still, He streched His adorable arms. CONSUMATUS EST. And you still think its funny? At best, blasphemous?!

Not sure why so many people don't like it. It really wasn't bad.

Have you ever seen the terminator movies? If you haven't I would see how this could be confusing.

The part with Judas was hilarious.

If someone can explain SPECIFICALLY why it wasn't funny I'll listen. But so far it seems a little prudish on some peoples part to write this off as rubbish.

Fussy joker??? How do you figure?

Hi NO FUNNY,

I don't imagine Our Lord "like some fussy joker," but along with G. K. Chesterton and C. S. Lewis, I try to sometimes imagine his sense of humor, which he did possess since he had a human soul. Treating this sketch as if it's equivalent to "The Last Temptation of Christ" is really going too far.

So, judging from the responses I guess that seeing Our Lord's passion turned into a joke is no big deal. Humor is a subjective thing. I just didn't get it this time.

dymphna: Please give concrete examples of why this turns the Passion into "no big deal." It's not making light of the Passion itself. It's clear that the Christ character in the sketch knows that He must die and knows WHY He must and even gets a robot from the future to convert, and, more to the point, understand the reason for His death AND THEN believe in the resurrection! Something which NONE of the disciples (with the possible exception of the Virgin Mary) understood at all.

In summary, the Terminator is basically Peter with a gun (instead of a sword), the knowledge of who will be responsible for the Passion, and the courage to actually stand by Him throughout. And, in the end, the robot speaks volumes with his final words in the sketch. With one word, "What?" he seems to say, "Hey, He said He'll be back so stop crying! What, you don't believe Him?"

Coming from secular TV, this is a veritable message of faith.

O dear glory...this is a bit off...(LMAO)..Ok, well mybe I'm being a prude...
Hells Bells, it was funny.
Can I get the link to it?
O God forgive me; I think.

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.

Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.

Known as "God's Jester" was a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.
