"...some British schools have also removed or restricted the following 'anti-Muslim' children's books... The Three Little Pigs, Charlottes Web, Babe:The Sheep-pig, Cars and Trucks and Things That Go, Olivia Saves the Circus, Animal Farm."

And then started the FREE PIGLET campaign asking that people show us their pig. We have to work now to end this swinephobia now. Now some people think pigs have what's coming to them after reading Animal Farm or their unfortunate association with the name of government largess taints us.

First they came for Elmer Fudd, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't an Elmer Fudd fan and I preferred Bugs. Then they came for the three little pigs, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a member of their household. Then they came for Piglet, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't part of the Pooh union. Then they came for Miss Piggy, but I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Muppet. Then they came for me...By that time there was no one to speak up for anyone.

This weekend is our Parish Oktoberfest. It’s a way to earn money for both the school and the parish, but mostly it’s a way to have fun. A chance to kick back, eat, drink, socialize with other members of our parish and our community and a chance for o... Read More

Yet again, I bitterly curse the day I foolishly decided not to buy the special limited edition figurine our Police Association made once. It featured a statue of a grinning pig wearing full New South Wales Police Uniform, standing on a wooden base to which a plaque was also affixed, bearing the "sacred" words:

PRIDE
INTEGRITY
GUTS

Nuts! Dad was a Master Butcher, so eating pig meat in all its many tasty forms has never been a problem for me... Yummy!

Recently, there was a kerfuffle when a Muslim Lord Mayor somewhere in Australia tried to bam our staple ham sandwiches at Council functions. I never did hear how that one ended... I do not expect muslims to live according to my beliefs (as opposed to actually breaking the law, of course); In return I expect to be granted the same courtesy...

Why don't I think I'll be so lucky?

Well, there goes half my elementary and highschool reading list. I've been corrupted. It's too late now.

Oh well. At least I know that some pigs are more equal than others.

CJ,
How dare you leave out Porky Pig from the list of famous cartoon pigs! Is it because he has a speech impediment? Hmmmm?

It is sad to think that some day my daughter will not be forced to read Animal Farm in high school, just like her father and I were.

I'm sorry to have to inform you of this, but Elmer Fudd is NOT a pig. He's a small, bald, speach-impaired human being who hunts wabbits.

Please, let's keep our facts straight or the terrorists will have already won.

Perhaps Elmer Fudd is considered to be a male chauvinist pig.

Political correctness stikes again!

Yes the Greek Captcha is a joke

The Curt Jester

A former atheist who after spending forty years in the wilderness finds himself with both astonishment and joy a member of the Catholic Church. This blog presents my hopefully humorous and sometimes serious take on things religious, political, and whatever else crosses my mind.

Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.

Known as "God's Jester" was a martyr for the faith and a man of wisdom, fun, tricks, poetry, song, and dance. Thus seemed an appropriate Patron Saint of this blog.
