I Love my Governor
PHILADELPHIA -- Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday that he opposes human embryonic stem cell research because it requires the destruction of days-old embryos.
Embryonic stem cells form during the early days after conception and can turn into any tissue in the body. Many scientists hope to one day harness them to grow replacement tissue to treat diabetes, spinal cord injuries and other diseases.
But prominent social conservatives, including President Bush and the Roman Catholic Church, are against the research because days-old embryos are destroyed. On Tuesday, the president's brother said he agreed.
"I'm opposed to it," the Florida governor told a small group of reporters. "Taking a human life to save life is a huge contradiction morally." [Source]

I agree with Lynn! He was my governor for a little while (13 months, actually) and I was always impressed with him. He actually has beliefs and sticks with them. Imagine that. ;-)

We have a priest in the Diocese of Austin who is the pastor of the parish Jeb Bush goes to when he visits his brother at Crawford Ranch.
The pastor says every time he talks with Gov. Bush he is amazed at how solid and grounded in his faith he seems.
I'm willing to trade a slightly used...well maybe not slightly used...ragged out really, slightly masculine...well maybe "butch" is more like it, Catholic...well maybe not Catholic in the theological and moral aspect..."registered parishioner", governor from Michigan. Act now and I'll even throw in the first lady...ehem, excuse me...first man.
JEB is really great. He is a parishoner at my Church here in Florida. He cracks me up because he sings so loud at mass, and his wife, Columba, is always trying to shush him.
He definitely has taken a stand on many life issues, and I pray that he continues to do so.

I had heard that Jeb was Catholic but the news media rarely mentions that. They are more willing to bring up the nominal Catholicism of folks like John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Ted Kennedy, et al.
I wish he would run for president.
