Closeting Catholics

Comments (10)

CHICAGO, June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Catholic Bishops of the United States gather in Chicago for their Spring Meeting, they will meet opposition to their pious homophobia. The Catholic Hierarchy in recent years has stepped up their attacks on the GLBT Community. The Rainbow Sash Movement stands shoulder to shoulder with our sisters and brothers in the Gay Liberation
Network as we condemn this rampant homophobia.

Rather ironic talking about attacks a week after members of the GLBT Community physically attacked a priest in the Cathedral a Notre Dame.

The Catholic Bishops have actively sought to deny GLBT their constitutional rights based on religious dogma.

Constitutional right to receive the Eucharist? Doesn't the Catholic Church have a constitutional right to have religious dogma and then act on it? For groups that are always talking about acceptance and persecution they are trying to drive faithful Catholic into the closet. Our whole society is trying to do the same thing by silencing those that believe that homosexual actively is gravely disordered. We only need to look North to see the multiple charges against Canadian Bishop Henry for his pastoral letter on homosexuality.

We need to bring back the magical altar rails, this time set to detect gays.

The Catholic Church IS inclusive of those with same sex attraction. It is fornication in which she cannot abide. Heterosexuals presenting themselves for the sacrament of marriage who are living together should be chastised and not given permission should they persist in sin. I know that's a tough concept for our society (and some priests), but it's the best way to firm up the foundation and to provide clarity to these confused homosexuals.

We didn't make this stuff up, God did.

"constitutional right" I have long believed that this is the real problem with gay rights. It isn't really civil rights they are concerned with, it is a way to force the Church to abandon true teaching.

Gays demanding to have communion is like, imagine if you would, a Large family gathering of aunts and uncles, cousin, grandparents, and wonderful family friends all gathering around the dinner table of a Man who they all love and adore. He has invited them all. They have washed, and put on clean garments and are ready for supper. But over by the door, are more invited guests, but for some reason have not washed, nor are they wearing clean garments. They refuse to, even though they have been told they must wash, and prepare themselves before they can come to the table. They say no. They are going to force their way to the table and demand the food. And now they are saying they will go get a lawyer and the police to help them in their demands. Now those at the table find them all unwanted. Except the Man at the head of the table. He's sad, but keeps encouraging them to wash and come to the table prepared. They continue to refuse.

Some people turn out to be lousy dinner guests.

I can't help but be saddened for the Man at the head of the table. We're all ticked because these guests are ruining the dinner , but the Man at the head of the table has invited them, and loves them, but they are selfish and rude, and think only of themselves. If they're not careful they will be thrown out of the dinner only to have the doors shut on them, leaving them to grind their teeth.

(take the word demand and mix up the letters and you have the word "damned".)* interesting.

Lucy, that was a perfect picture you painted, damned/demand and all. Teresa, you are correct as well.

There's the oft-used saying these days, 'if you don't like it, leave!' I'm tired of these interest groups holding the Church to ransom--Politicians re the abortion issue, women priests, gay rights, whatever--it's terrible and rude, and worse, they are such hypocrites. What about the Church's rights (as you said, Jeff)? What about those of us who are faithful to the Church's teachings? I'm offended that I have to even read this crud, and that the Church has to justify itself. Blech!

I am amazed at how quickly we will be "forced into the closet". Just how soon will there be a "state-sanctioned" Catholicism and a "real" Catholicism? Not too far in the future I think.

It's more frightening over the border where Canadian Catholics tell me that BLBT groups are trying to see if they can have ministers and priests PROSECUTED for "hate speech" from the pulpit. It certainly gives us pause.

Hello from Canada -- yep, the closet is getting pretty crowded... please keep us in prayer.

And did you know that Germans are being persecuted for homeschooling? (It's illegal there)

I just want to get a clarification if I can.

Are we using "living together" as a synonym for "shacking up"?

Or do we just mean, literally, living under the same roof, even if the couple in question live as chaste celibates with different bedrooms and all?
