As heard on the Hugh Hewitt Show
Hugh: Benedict the Sixteenth announced opening of the cause for Beatification of John Paul the Second. He is waiving the normal waiting period of five years - which means you can now become a saint quicker then you can be confirmed a federal judge.

I love Hugh Hewitt. We've got to get him back to the Church. He says that he was a "devout" Catholic for many years but became very disillusioned by the bishops. Then he read Luther and that was that. I understand the disillusionment with some bishops, but reading Luther put it all together for him? We have our work cut out for us but I still think there is hope for Hugh.
LOL!!!! That is priceless!!!!
*ba-da-bump-bump*
(little drum beat after Hewitt's punch line)
The Catholic "litmus test for judges" cause for sainthood equivalent is the Devil's Advocate (am I right?). Now wouldn't that just be a purely fun job!
"Yes, I've uncovered Blessed Such-n-such once said 'fooey' to a liturgical dance ensemble."
I'm not sure canonization is constitutional??
Did he really say Beautification?!??
Unfortunately, Teresa, our deceased Pope did away with such historic oddities as the position of Devil's Advocate.
