As catholic and RTS fan, I've been thinking about an Age of Empires style game but with church history theme.
It would be fun to decide wich doctrine to develop first, send misionaries to new territories, train saints or perform a miracle form time to time. Just an idea.
Catechumen is OLD. They've even made a (much better) sequel to it, Dark Horizons, where you go get the pages of the Guttenberg Bible back from where they've been scattered throughout time. You can download demos of both from various places on the net.

Why bother? Why not just typeset another edition of the Vulgate from manuscript?
What a great title for a blog post.
I've always thought a great game would be to be either step in the shoes of, or by the side of saint throughout history - particularly active ones (Peter, Paul, Polycarp, Perpetua, early Roman martyrs, Joan of Arc, Catherine of Siena, Francis Xavier, Mother Cabrini, Mother Teresa, John Paul II etc.). It would be a choose-your-own adventure kind of thing where the choices you make alter how the saint's story comes out. It would be a great way to learn church history.
JB, I was toying with the idea of making Christian games a while back, whether there might be a way to use it for catechesis (I expect I've spelt that wrong). Anyway, I didn't get very far, but I do know about http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/ which is an excellent free resource for making LucasArts/Sierra style 2D adventure games. It'd probably suit you if you wanted to have a go.
I think more LucasArts type adventure games should be made anyway. 3D? Pfft.
