Great interview by John Hawkins of Right Wing News with Sen Sam Brownback. Especially interesting what his opinion about the need for a Constitutional amendment to protect marriage and that his number one priority if he was allowed to select legislation would be to protect the child in the womb and from human embryos being used as research. He was also a lot more forthcoming about Presidential ambitions then others currently being considered. I think he is a pretty good man (an a fairly recent Catholic convert to boot), but I don't think that Senator's make very good presidential candidates - as history bears out.

Senator Brownback is an excellent man and a true Catholic man of faith. It is encouraging to know that a man such as he is in the United States Senate.
Unfortunately, I agree with your assessment that he may not be the most viable Presidential Candidate. I would support him though.
I agree with you about Sen. Brownback, but can I quibble a bit on history? It's not that Senators don't make good Presidential candidates, only that they're not the best choice to challenge an incumbent president. Kerry, Dole, McGovern, and Goldwater were all running against incumbents running for re-election. The last time a Senator was nominated in an open Presidential race (1960), he defeated an incumbent Vice President (say what you will about the race of 1960, Kennedy vs. Nixon).
A Senator running in 2008 would not necessarily have history against him.

It nice to know we have someone to watch in the years to come that is a good man and worthy of a vote. I'll watch for his name....
It looks pretty good that the Dems will be fielding a Senator from, oh, I don't know, New York, so why not throw Brownback into the fray? I liked the qualificatin about Senators being jinxed when running against incumbents. I didn't realize that.
