Norming child sex

Dawn Eden continues her dumpster diving into the moral decadence that is Planned Parenthood. So as they say, read the whole thing. I have some thoughts myself on this subject below.

PP seems to have no problems with providing us with measurements along the way of the slippery slope. What was laughed at yesterday as an outrageous claim now becomes a white paper hawking adolescent sex. There are no boundaries since boundaries would come under the heading as they put it 'so-called "morals." Yes now even the word moral get scare quotes.

In general, an adolescent's gender, age, socioeconomic status, family atmosphere, sexual orientation, religious commitment, and individual life experience are all factors that can exert an influence on whether, when, and how she or he will be sexually active. It is as true for teenagers as it is for adults that sexual expression can be either positive or negative depending on the context. Children who are reared in sexually negative environments may have more difficulty having sexually positive experiences. Serious damage is done when one person forces another to have sex, or when sex is used as a form of abuse or control. But, when engaged in voluntarily, safely, and responsibly, sex can engender not only pleasure but also a healthy intimacy and bond between two people.

I was raised in an environment with just that attitude. Where talking and joking about sex from a young age was the norm and pornography was kept in the house with no worries about young eyes, but instead promoted as a normal part of human sexuality. This view that they cite in their White Paper (more accurately toilet paper) is pure moral destruction. I know from experience a lifestyle that would make St. Augustine blush. I also know from experience the consequences of this attitude that is truly condensed evil fed to us by the spoonful and then the whole cup. Looking back at my own life I almost want to break out singing "Amazing Grace", but it truly is amazing grace that can turn aside the siren call of permissive sexuality and to prevent us from crashing onto the rocks.

The only statement they got right is that "sexual expression can be either positive or negative depending on the context." The problem is that they don't believe in the context - which is faithful monogamous marriage between one man and one woman.

Dawn also points out in response to this passage.

It goes on to say, "The initiation of sexual intercourse during adolescence is a recognized pattern of behavior in the U.S. (Singh & Darroch, 1999),"

—This is known as the "everybody's doing it," or "50 Million Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong," school of psychology—

—and by no means a recent one—premarital intercourse among young people, including many adolescents, was common well before World War II (Laumann et al., 1994)."

The beating up of people by bullies during adolescence is a recognized pattern of behavior in the U.S. Historically people have been beat up by bullies well before World War II. So let us hand out boxing gloves and head protection by the school nurses. After all they are going to do it anyway so let us have save bullying. Being beaten up can be positive or negative depending on the context - like being a masochist. If younger and younger children start to become bullies this is just a natural part of human progress.

I think the initials for Planned Parenthood should really stand for Prayers Please. These people need our prayers. Pray that those involved in PP will come to see the evil of abortion and sex outside of marriage. That their guilt will be tempered by the understanding of the awesome mercy of God.

Another factor the Planned Parenthood folks forget is that before WWII, high school graduation was less common, and more people were assuming adult roles in life and marrying at earlier ages. Many of the "sexually active adolscents" PP vaunts so proudly were married people in a sacramental relationship.

I strongly suspect that the general enlongated adolescence of our present day means that our 22-year-old college graduates are less emotionally prepared for the sacrament of marriage than the 17-year-olds of 75 years ago.

Before PP and Roe v Wade, adolescent sex was either marital or pre-marital - meaning that if you got pregnant, you got married - and that usually your folks helped you to get established on your own two feet. What we have now is totally non-marital sex - and that is a new phenomenon for our 'culture'. I posted on this paradigm shift a few days ago.
I also grew up in a household where PP and Kinsey institute standards were the norm. I don't even want to go there in memory. Reading Dawn's post is giving me bad flashbacks.

I CAN NOT believe with such horendeous material the organization called Planned Parenthood is still exist.

This kind of stuff really needs alot of exposure.

I too was raised by a mother who worshipped Kinsey. When I told her about 6 years ago of her gay pal sexually abusing me she told me if she had known she would have made sure I couldn't get pregnant. I told her I wanted her to be making sure I wasn't being raped. We havn't spoken since..
