Someone at where I work after hearing me talk to someone about how rapture theology was relatively new and invented by John Nelson Darby a lawyer from Ireland handed me a book written by Bishop Spong. He must have thought that since I discarded the rapture that I also discarded reason. I had never heard of him and I looked at the back of the book and read that he was a frequent guest of Good Morning America. Endorsement by GMA is a certain Imprimatur of theological crap. I had not yet come into the church, but I was in my intensive reading phase. I could not even get through the first chapter without laughing at the parody of Christianity that it taught.
