Fr. Philip, I get it and I'm 18. Hilarious!

"I have a stone in my shoe...Cardinal Mahoney...take care of it Guido."

I got my brand new IRosary to work, now I can say the rosary with Greg and Jennifer Willits of The Rosary Army.

[From Monty Python sketch] It's -- DA BISHOP!! [Shocked Michael Palin face]

Posted by Cacciaguida email at July 23, 2007 7:53 PM

Nice shades.

Posted by Subvet email at July 23, 2007 9:23 PM

It's -- THE ROSARY TOUGHS!

(OK Father Philip -- I'm 47 and I've never worked in campus ministry -- what's the "prayin' dirty" deal?)

Also: Who's the guy on the left? We all know Papa Benny, and Father Ganswein I recognize, but who's the chap in the polo shirt? I hope he's not a cleric!

Posted by PMcGrath email at July 23, 2007 9:45 PM

Fr. Philip...LOL

Posted by Apolonio email at July 23, 2007 9:57 PM

P, it's a play on the song "Drivin' Dirty". I'm older than you are, but my kids sing that goofy song a lot. It gets stuck in your head.

Posted by joanne email at July 23, 2007 10:28 PM

OK, if we finish the Joyful Mysteries before our tee time, maybe the Blessed Mother will help us break par.

Posted by Roz email at July 23, 2007 10:54 PM

Joanne, the song is actually called 'Ridin' Dirty' by Chamillionare. Yes, I said Chamillionare. Catchy beat, but not any substance. I think the guy in the polo is a security guard.

Posted by Lauren email at July 23, 2007 10:59 PM

The man in the golf shirt is Angelo Gugel. Although I suspect this is not a PC term, "Butler to The Holy Father" or dare I say... servant of the servant of the servants of God!

Scott, it was Mosca (dressed as a priest)who was sent by Don Altobella to kill Michael Corleone in Godfather III. Otherwise, I love it.

Posted by Al email at July 24, 2007 1:13 AM

Papa Benedetto: Fr. Bonasera... Fr. Bonasera! Why, why didn't you come to me before this? If you had come to me before this, even now, the scum who did this to your liturgy would be suffering even as your parishioners are suffering.

Posted by Al email at July 24, 2007 3:28 AM

"Bad boys..Bad boys...What ya gonna do...What ya gonna do here we come for you.."

These mysteries are so Luminous, I've got to wear shades!

Cue theme music from The Sopranos: "Woke up this morning. Got myself some beads.... Ma always said you'd be the holy one.... Woke up this morning. Got myself some beads."

Joanne, the song is actually called 'Ridin' Dirty' by Chamillionare.

And Weird Al did a far superior parody of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xEzGIuY7kw

Pope Benedict XVI, wearing sun glasses, and his personal secretary Georg Gaenswein, right, and his PERSONAL ASSISANT Angelo Gugel, left, walk on a bridge of the Centro Cadore's lake...(AP caption of photo). \

Not clear: is the P.A. is a priest or not?

Posted by Anne email at July 24, 2007 5:20 PM

When in Rome...you do what the Holy Father does!

Posted by TSO email at July 24, 2007 5:27 PM

Angelo Gugel is not a priest. He is the the Holy Father's former valet. Now retired.

Posted by Olauda email at July 24, 2007 5:42 PM

Archbishop Lefebvre gave me these glasses which always turn black when I get to the luminous mysteries.

Posted by Burnt Marshwiggle email at July 25, 2007 10:07 AM

You're right, Lauren. See what happens when you get old? You can't even remember what you know. I would have consulted my children, but I couldn't remember where I had put them...ahhhhh...

Posted by joanne email at July 25, 2007 10:54 AM

On the subject of memory, which I brought up, this is a great picture but it reminds me of s'thing I can't name & it's bugging me! Is it "Men in Black"? The Mod Squad? No, it's not Charlie's Angels...
Help me out, here.

Posted by joanne email at July 25, 2007 10:56 AM

Papa Benny looks cool in shades...
