Caption Contest

Guy Selvester at Shouts in the Piazza brilliantly captions this photo with.

Pssssst! Benedict, what did you get for number 36?

-Number 36? That answer was "Apostolic Succession".

Oh...I didn't get that.

Joe, I need a 6 letter word, second and fourth letters are 'E', clue is " doctrine at variance with orthodoxy".

Okay Rowan, I think the word is "Orthodox". Your turn to draw up the Hangman game.

Hmm, interesting ... the meeting was so exciting it even put the guys in the painting to sleep. ;-)

Benedict: First one to get the answer wins.

Rowan: But is there really any such thing as an 'answer', and if there is, can we know it?

Now switch.

See? Pretty soon we'll have a book."

Dear Mom and Dad,

I'm having fun at Camp Grenada. Every Tuesday after lunch we have to write a letter home. I met a nice German boy called Joe. The food is mostly spaghetti and garlic bread, and all they give us for breakfast is coffee and hard rolls. I saw some cool paintings yesterday. I can't wait to come home. Love, Rowan

"Hey, Rowan, help me out here. 9 across: 'Second wife of Henry VIII'. That's up your alley, right?"

Posted by Fr. Jay Toborowsky email at November 25, 2006 12:45 PM

OK, you both have 60 seconds to caption the painting behind you. Now, go!

Posted by Brian email at November 25, 2006 2:34 PM

I just love it when they give us paper to write our homilies before the food comes out!

Okay, agreed. YOU say TO-MAY-TO and I'll say TO-MAH-TO-oh forget it! Okay! You're infallible! Let's call the whole thing off!

Rowan! Eyes on your own paper! This is the last time I will warn you!

Canterbury and Rome are currently neck and neck in their competition to translate Agnellus of Ravenna's Liber pontificalis ecclesiae Ravennatis into Old Church Slavonic, Bulgarian, Kurdish, Middle English, Gothic Umbrian, Medieval Swedish, and Hip Hop. Cantuar has a slight lead over Roma in his Hip Hop vocabulary given his daughter's urban slang competence, proving once again the benefits of optional celibacy.

Final Jeopardy Catagory: Art History.
Pope Benedict, what is your wager?

As General Williams signed the document of unconditional surrender he was hopeful that B16, like US Grant, would be generous and allow his men to keep their KJV Bibles & wifes to help with the spring planting.

Please make a list of your predecessors.

Now, make a list of your predecessors who were Catholic.

Now, make a list of your predecessors who were saints.

Who wins?

265 - 104
265 - 70
74- 22

And if necessary the tie-breaker

And how many of your predecessors have been called Pius?

12 - 0

Why waste jet fuel on the foregone conclusion?

Love all of the funny captions! You guys have a lot of imagination!

Fascinating whose entries were divisive, whereas, to quote the same Guy Selvester in another post, the Pope himself is a bridge builder . . .
