Vatican insults San Francisco

Just to prove my previous point that the whole Catholic Charities debacle is like a soap opera here comes the latest plot twist.

"It is an insult to all San Franciscans when a foreign country, like the Vatican, meddles with and attempts to negatively influence this great city's existing and established customs and traditions, such as the right of same-sex couples to adopt and care for children in need.''

Yes it is the dreaded "non-binding resolution" that strikes terror to all. Though as far as "established customs and traditions" goes it is funny to hear liberals use that one. A tradition in custom so old it is barely out of its diapers. With all of this worrying about foreign meddling I am sure the city's board of supervisor next proclamation will be to condemn Supreme Court justices for appealing to foreign law.

There is a solution. You see, if the Frisco friskies, uh, government, feel so insulted, they can follow the example of the Mormons when they get insulted (per example illustrated by Maureen Martin a while back) --- POUT!

Which amendment is the one that grants same-sex couples the right to adopt?

My civics is a little rusty.

Oh! But if the Pope WOULD deploy the Swiss Guard to invade and attack San Franciso! Heads on pikes! Tarred and shrunken at the gates to serve as a warning to all!

Sigh... 'tis a dream... 'tis a dream.

The Swiss Guard invading San Francisco. Now there's some imagery you can run wild with!

An interesting question arises though. Would GWB send troops to defend the city? Or would the Govenator send in the National Guard? :)

The Swiss Guard could take 'em. *sighs because women/American's can't join* Hehe.

Uh, minus the apostrophe, of course.

If I'm correct, the Swiss Guard have very flashy, and colorful uniforms. What could happen, if they invaded San Fransico, would be that the San Fransicans came rushing out and over accessorized them.

... and it is an insult to mankind when a foreign body like the SFBOS meddles with the Body of Christ.

It sounds to me like someone in SF has been doing a little reading on 19th century US history and taken up the Know-nothing strategy in order to incite bigotry and suspicion against Catholics...not that they have far to go to do so.

I'm not laughing at the wit and humor expressed here on this subject because it's taking our eye off the ball. Homosexual activists and their agenda are not funny. The mendacious spin they put on the Church's motives is taking root in our society and dismissing it or making light of it is aiding their cause. These are vicious, unprincipled liars and hypocrites and they must be opposed actively by every serious Christian. Letters to the editor, calls to talk shows and interaction with those we work and/or socialize with should be part of all our lives. If they are not stopped, homosexuality will transform our society in less than two generations.

How the Church handles internal affairs--such as adoptions--is none of the business of a government entity. If the gov't. doesn't want to do business with the Church over this, then the Church will have to do what it can without state funds. It seems like San Francisco is not only a Gay Paradise, but a city ignorant of the First Amendment which was adopted to protect religion from the power of political hacks not protect hacks from the prophetic witness of a religion.

Well said Deacon John....

And San Franciso was founded by...

The first colonizing party arrived in 1776 to found the Presidio of San Francisco and Mission Dolores. La Misión de San Francisco de Asis (Mission Dolores) is designated as Registered Landmark Number One of the City and County of San Francisco. The Mission Church is the oldest intact building in San Francisco, and one of the oldest Mission Churches in California. The first mass celebrated at the Mission was on June 29, 1776 (5 days before the signing of the Declaration of Independence) (source). Mission Dolores was the sixth of 21 missions established by the Franciscans.

Odd that they would consider the Vatican to be so foreign.

. . . attempts to negatively influence this great city's existing and established customs and traditions . . .

How about that established custom and tradition of not splitting infinitives?

last time I checked Catholic Charities is not the Vatican. And if these people care so much about gay adoption, then they should stop expecting a private organization to compromise what they believe in order to cater to everyones' whims

Well, I dont neccessarily disagree with you, but assuming all gays are "vicious, unprincipled liars and hypocrites" is ignorant to an incredible degree. I being gay and Christian am none of the things you stated and neither is it my agenda to change/attack or even effect the church towards my own ends, in anyway shape or form, that is in reference to you stating, "The mendacious spin they put on the Church's motives..." Now, like anyone who truly says they believe in the Bible, I'm not going to say that what I do is right, and neither am I going to defend myself in respect to my "activities". But I will say, I am not the way I am by choice. The driving force that pulls me in the direction that I take is something I've struggled with for years. That is, not the struggle of "coming out of the closet", but of getting rid of the desires that I have. I have asked God so many countless times for His aid on this subject, and yet He has made me come to realise I am this way for a reason.
