Catholic, Catholic, Catholic

FRONT ROYAL When Walter Janaro's parents made him attend Christendom College 25 years ago, he thought the conservative campus wasn't a good fit for a wavering Catholic like himself.

Then as now, students were expected to live and learn immersed in the Catholic faith. Classes opened with prayer. Women dressed modestly, and the outfit for men included shirt and tie.

No social calls were allowed between the sexes at the single-gender dorms, no public displays of affection, no debauchery that has become a rite of higher education on other campuses.

Janaro stayed and grew in his faith, he says. Now 43, he is Christendom's registrar. He never left.

The rest of the article on Christendom College is also pretty good.

Walter's a good egg. He was a great buddy of mine when I had a part-time job there some years ago.

New Catholic University in San Diego, California sounds good. Check it out at: www.NewCatholicUniversity.com

They will NOT be a Liberal Arts school but a school for media, technology and business.
